Introduction to SEMI S2

This course gives a sound overview of the requirements of all the sections of SEMI S2. It provides an essential understanding of all the hazards SEMI S2 addresses and provides critical guidance on dealing with those hazards. Each area of SEMI S2 is explored in enough depth to understand the importance of the hazards covered by that section, as well as the challenges of designing equipment to adequately control those hazards. The course is recommended for anyone working in the semiconductor industry who is involved with semiconductor fabrication equipment and needs to have a basic understanding of the safety requirements which that equipment must satisfy. The course takes about 8 hours to complete, and it may be taken in multiple sessions to suit your schedule. After you sign up for this course you will have 60 days to complete this course.

Designing SEMI S2 Compliant Power Distribution Systems

This course discusses the electrical safety standards used in the semiconductor industry and creates an understanding of how to apply them in equipment design. The information provided is illuminated with numerous examples of compliant design, as well as common mistakes that lead to non-compliant design. It also provides an understanding of the engineering rationale behind the requirements, to provide an engineer with a better understanding of their application. Design engineers who design electrical power distribution for semiconductor fabrication equipment are advised to take this course. Designing SEMI S2 Compliant Safety Circuits

This course provides a clear explanation of the requirements for SEMI S2 compliant interlocks and emergency off circuits. It contains numerous examples of common mistakes made in interlock design along with practical solutions to common problems in designing interlocks. The purpose behind the requirement is explored to provide the design engineer with a better understanding of their application. It also discusses the challenge of integrating interlocks into equipment without adversely impacting the functionality or throughput of the equipment. Emergency off design is explored in detail. Any engineer who is responsible for designing SEMI S2 compliant safety interlocks or emergency off circuits should take this course. Ergonomics For Equipment Design: SEMI S8

Ergonomics is an unfamiliar topic for most design engineers: for this reason, the course starts by helping the design engineer to understand ergonomics and why it is important. It moves on to examine ergonomic risk factors. The essential tools of ergonomic analysis directly included in SEMI S8 and those referenced by SEMI S8 are explained in a way that facilitates their use. These tools are then applied to sound ergonomic design. Throughout all of this discussion, these principles are illustrated with numerous examples applied to equipment design. This course should be taken by any engineer who is designing equipment which impacts personnel equipment interface with respect to equipment operation, maintenance, service, or troubleshooting. The course takes about 4 hours to complete, and it may be taken in multiple sessions to suit your schedule. After you sign up for this course you will have 30 days to complete this course.

After you sign up for the course you will receive a hard copy course study guide. This has much more than just copies of the slides; it also includes extensive explanatory material in addition to the course slides. The study guide has an extensive index to facilitate its use as an essential reference when issues are encountered in future design. In addition, every course has mini quizzes to test your growing knowledge while taking the course and it concludes with a test. A certificate of successful completion is issued when it is successfully passed. The time duration given on all the courses is an estimated duration, as this time will vary for each individual who takes the course. But these courses can be taken over numerous sessions whose length can vary, so they can be worked in to your own schedule in a manner of your own choosing. Just pause the course and return to the same spot whenever you are ready – the course introduction explains this pause function.

  4. You will be prompted for payment for the cost of the course. The cost will be $400 for the Introduction to SEMI S2 course and $300 for all other courses.
